With all the recent talk about Acai Berries-acai berries in supplements, juices, smoothies, and raw-you may be wondering if it can-in fact-live up to all the healthy hype it has been linked to. Touted as a super food fruit that can help fight cancer and related chronic conditions, Acai Berries are healthy but not proven to be more so than any other antioxidant-rich berry fruit.

Magic Qualities in Acai Berries

With the beginning hype offered from the media, top paid celebrities and physicians have been quick to jump on the bandwagon to promote the magic qualities of Acai Berries. This said-though there have not been enough conclusive studies done on the fruit, scientists on one study done concurred that the Acai Berry did increase antioxidants in the human bodies tested: “Texas A&M University found significant increases in antioxidant activity in the blood after consumption of the acai pulp and juice.”

Essential Nutrients and Minerals

It is important to view this study as not only one of many in determining the health benefits of Acai Berries, but also that-as many physicians state-Acai Berry is a fruit that at its very least offers essential nutrients and minerals, that are necessary for a complete healthy diet.
